Lily Cole - Character Sketchbook 138

Painting of Lily Cole by Fashion Artist Danny Roberts number 138 from his Character Sketchbook

Hi, everyone! How is your week going so far?!
As usual, I am super busy haha
But I'm working on a project that
I am really excited about that I
can't wait to share with you all!

Today's post is another painting from my Character Sketchbook!
It is Number 138 and is of the Lovely
Lily Cole of IMG Models. As you may know,
Lily Cole is one of the models that I
learned to draw off of. So she has a
special place in my heart. Haha : )
What do you think? I hope you like it!

Crossing the Dragon Gap

Artist danny Roberts 56 th line drawing of lily cole editorial out of his Character Sketch book

Well, the drawing today is from my "Character Sketch Book" which i started right when i really started drawing...
Which was 4 years ago. So weird to think i've only really been drawing constantly for 4 years.
It seems so long ago. haha.
Well, the Phrase "Crossing the Dragon Gap" refers to traveling into the unknown,
because in the olden days map makers would draw dragons in places no one had traveled.
Well, learning how to draw was the first real dragon gap i had crossed...
And as i set goals for this next year, and mapped out my dreams for the year,
Looks like i will have to cross another "Dragon Gap".
I'm a little nervous/anxious, but I'm also so painfully excited to share the journey with you all.
Needless to say, this Image is perfect for expressing what I'm feeling right now ;)

Random story.... I Drew this in the bleachers of a wrestling tournament when i was couching wrestling with my dad. :)

Wow wow wow! Remember, November 1, 2006! haha
haha Ok, so today's "Remember When" Post is the 14th & 15th drawing from Volume 1 of my Character Sketchbook.
The name of Volume 1 is "The Lily & Gemma Book" named after Lily Cole & Gemma Ward,
cause they are the first two people i drew to learn how to draw off of. :)

Lily Cole Sketch by Fashion Artist Danny Roberts

Hey friends,
Wow, it's so, so, so cold in Southern California today!
Well, just finished Christmas Shopping today!
How about you?
Wow, such a busy time.
There was something about this old Lily drawing that reminded me of Christmas.
Maybe it was the red tights...
Not sure, but i thought i would post it.
I hope you like it, and I hope you're having a very Merry Christmas! :)

The Queen of Parnassus

Lily Cole as a queen in Danny Roberts

Hey Friends!
How are you?
Well, i know i have already posted this picture,
but was going through my etsy store and making sure all the items were up,
when i saw this piece.
i almost forgot about it.
i really like how it turned out.
Also, since i still can't get "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" out of my head,
i thought posting a Lily Cole image would be fitting.
I'm resting up my friends.
Haven't drawn in 3 weeks, which is the longest period i've gone without drawing in 3 or 4 years!
So crazy... just been super tired,
but i hope you all have a magical day!

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Danny Roberts drawing of Lily Cole holding a sword and Christopher Plummer in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Greetings, my friends...
Well, last night i took a journey into greatness,
when i saw "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" at a screening in Nike's theatre in L.A.
I truly don't remember the last time i saw a movie that good in the theatre.
The acting, the visuals, & the story were all incredible!
Tom Wait was so impressive, he had a cool, cold, evil to his character.
And Heath Ledger was amazing, it was such a different role for him,
he was really an amazing actor.

Also, it was a trip seeing Lily Cole in the movie!
She was really great in the movie!
It was really fun seeing the girl that i learned how to draw off of, acting in a movie.
She really has one of the greatest looks,
so fun..

Well, all and all, i completely loved the movie.
I'm dying for it to come out in the theatre's so i can see it again and again.
I did this little sketch today for the movie...
i hope you like it :)

Danny Roberts painting of Karl Lagerfeld, tanya dziahileva, Mona Johannesson, and Lily Cole, at a Thanksgiving dinner black and white version

Happy Thanksgiving~!
I know for alot of you, today isn't the US holiday called "Thanksgiving",
but i was thinking, why can't it be!
i mean, what a wonderful idea, a day to remember and think about what you are thankful for.
So, what are yawl thankful for?
Since one of the things i'm so thankful for is you all,
i thought i would make you a Special Thanksgiving Painting.
I was thinking you could share the painting with someone you're thankful for.
I thought a Karl Lagerfeld Thanksgiving would be a good start for a painting.
Oh, also dressed all the girls in the Chanel Spring 2010 Collection ;)
hahahaha i hope you like it! Hope it brightens your day!
Have a wonderful day, my friends! :)
~ D

P.S. I just realized this might be a considered a blogger portrait for Fake Karl...
What do you think? :)
